January 9, 200818 yr Do ATI cards have the problem which causes the flashing taxiway's under dx10? And is vsync broken under dx10?These problems prevent me from using DX10 mode with my 8800gtx. I see no visible signs of Nvidia fixing their drivers despite being contacted by Phil Taylor. I find it strange there is no visible movement from nvidia, considering that FSX is owned by Microsoft and Microsoft is a 1000lb gorilla. I am starting to wonder if there is some bad blood in there somewhere. Thanks, Tony
January 9, 200818 yr I get more flashing of many things in FSX under DX9 (haze, clouds, other textures) etc and it has everything to do with changes in SP2 (reported elsewhere too). My hunch is further DirectX updates may resolve this issue, not driver revisions, but what do I know. BTW, I currently use an ATI board. As far as the 1000 lb gorillia, maybe that's a big part of the problem right there. ;) #1: [email protected]/Coolermaster HyperTX2 Gigabyte P35-DS3L 4GB Crucial Ballistix Tracers PC6400 Seagate 250GB 7200.10 SATA2 Gigabyte X800XT -Cat 6.12's CH Yoke/Pedals/Saitek Throttle Dual Monitor: Dell 2405/1905 #2: Dell 8400 3.2 H.T. 3GB PC4200 Diamond Xtreme/Logitech X-530's Regards, Kendall 7800X3D/G.B. January 10, 200818 yr From what I've skimmed off the net, which should be taken with a grain of salt:1) ATI DX10 cards don't have the (alleged z-buffer precision) conflict that causes overlapping taxiway textures to flicker under FSX SP2 DX10 mode. Also no problems reported with some nav/beacon lights appearing on the wrong side of the model depending on the view angle. I haven't read whether the ATI cards have the disappearing progressive taxi or not.2) Lots of finger pointing and theories as to what causes the problem, and where the problem lies. The choices are: NVidia driver, DirectX layer, FSX SP2. Because of the ATI reports, one would logically think NVidia drivers as the other two are the same on these systems. That may be a big leap as well.3) I have not found any official source acknowledging the issue and/or indicating this is being looked at. Some technical forum posts are still at the "convincing" stage, where tech support isn't convinced there is a problem and are still asking the level 1 questions such as "Thank you for your inquiry. Please verify your computer is plugged in and report if this solved the problem" :) There are very few posts on the subject, perhaps it's a matter of us starting to ask more questions. It would be nice to get some official input in the matter. 4) It seems the problem impacts a minority of armchair pilots out there due to the relatively newness of DX10 hardware and the need to run Vista. By minority, I mean, compared to the pilots using FSX in DX9 mode that do not have the issue. In the past, this has meant that this may not be the top attention getter those of us with the issue wish it would be.Etienne
