I've posted my cooling solution here before for those who might be so inclined, but the change I made yesterday is huge and so wanted to share . . .I have a Sharp Quiet thru-the-wall A/C unit I installed a couple of years ago to help cool my PC and the room where it lives, which can get a little warm in the summers here in Nor California. I had been intending to make a ducting system from teh output of the unit, which heretofore has just blasted air directly into the open case, kinda off to the side due to techical difficulties with the location of my PC and the AC unit. I ended up building a ducting system that takes 100% of the output and routes it out 2 x 4-5" aluminum flex hoses, one that now aims at point blank range at the CPU HSF, the other at the video card. There is plenty of flow over the entire mobo and memory and northbridge as the case cover is off on that side. The beauty is I can now run the AC for high load, high o'clock at its lowest fan speed, and there is still beau coup flow at critical parts. This will help with too much static pressure that could be an issue from trying to force air thru inadequate outflow ducts. Doesn't seem to be straining in the slightest, so I think I'm ok there. Anyway, high fan flow is not necessary now.I am able to run my 3.06 Northwood at 3.52GHz, and with Prime95 torture test I am seeing the following after 22 min:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/183676.jpgThis is a very nice improvement over just the tangential spray without the ducting work. For what it's worth: 1. Works with any and all PC's. 2. Cools not just the CPU, but memory, mainboard, northbridge.2. Paid $139.99 for a Sharp Quiet Comfort Control thru-the-wall AC unit that offers digital temp control from 64 to 85F, plus 3 speed control, and of course fan only operation. It is quite quiet as it's pretty small (8.2BTU if I remember), uses 110V, was a snap to install, and really, I don't notice hardly any impact on my utility bill which in this hot climate rarely went over $110 a month in peak summer. We don't use our whole house AC very much so that helps.Anyway, do consider it if you are looking for a universal fit, do it once solution. The noise factor is really a non issue for me cuz it's a deep and low pitch white noise, plus when I am not in need of excessive cooling I just turn it off and I am good for digital audio, recording, and other non-CPU intensive stuff. Temps before at this o'clock? When the CPU hit 70C I decided to stop the Prime95 test. And that was with a very decent Lian Li case and 4 excellent case fans and two PS fans.I look forward to parking my new Q Core box that is pretty close to being ready to assemble.I have 4 15K scsi drives and I have isolated them from extreme cooling so as not to have too rapid a temp change. I have control over their two fans and they really get no additional cooling from the AC, though could. From Seagate's tech brief I did not want to exceed their rate of temp change guideline.Noel
