1. Forget the tweak PDF for now2. delete the FSX.cfg file (or move it somewhere safe) and rebuild using #3 below.3. Read this and follow directions... EXCEPT, you will see a link in that thread which refers to a 'tune-up of XPSP2.. ignore that since you are on VISTAhttp://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=437662&page=2keep in mind that person is on XP and a P4 with a 256Mb video card and his response was HOLY MOLY running UTX and GENn so you should be able to do something with that list too although without the addons there may not be the same visual impact.Also, there are instructions for UTX setup in that thread, ignore them unless you have UTX installed but make SURE to use Nhancer and those driver settings exactly as I posted4. Try again with those driver settings, Nhancer settings, FSX settings and how to trim in the slidersSee how it does.if your still having problems then shut down DEFENDER and the INDEXING SERVICE in VISTA and also shut down UAC and any AV or security product you are usingYou are running a bit slow on your hardware for a Vista machine too so dont expect miracles

and make SURE you have ALL the Vista PERFORMACE patches offered at Microsoft though Windows Update.. go there manually and verify you have everything updated.The MS PATCH link I posted in that other thread is for dual core/hyperthread on XP and is not for VISTA

Well, I've done everything that was on the posts. Even shut down DEFENDER and am now getting 3 FPS. I am really pulling my hair out here. The planes look terrible. Well, I can tell you this. that is slow processor for VistaAnd other than knowing everything about your machine and going through it myself I really cant make many other suggestions.Perhaps you should have the system looked at by a professional and see what their opinion is about the system and what you are trying to do... especially using Vista.I wish I could help further.. I really do but in this case it sounds to me like the system is not working properlyHave you defragmented your hard drive since installing FSX and your software?

Beofre I bought the card, a "tech" guy said the card was compatible as it is a older MotherBoard. PCI-E 1.0. This is a 2.0 card but he said that it would work fine. I just read that it is NOT compatible with PCI-E 1.0 - 1.0A. I am assuming that THAT is what I have. Is there a way to update the PCI-E driver on this MB? Your system is far out of balance with an 8800 card mated to a P4/3.0.Even so, my belief is that you should be getting more than 3-5 fps.
