April 1, 200818 yr I stumbled upon a nice freeware disk defragger if anyone is interested. It's called JKDefrag. I'm using the 64bit version with my copy of Vista Ultimate x64 and it works great.I ran it from a command line and used the following command, JkDefrag.exe -a 7 c:This lets it defrag c: drive and uses optimizing strategy 7.7 = Optimize by sorting all files by name (folder + filename).Afterwards I ran it again using the windows version. Seems to work better than the default ms defragger.http://www.kessels.com/JkDefrag/
April 5, 200818 yr Yes, its an excellent utility, I'm running it on my vista64 system.A new version 4 is on the way, which will have even better optimisation of windows files.John
April 6, 200818 yr Version 4 huh? That's nice to hear. The number and size of files that need to be defragged after installing something like mesh or textures is crazy. FSX sure is a spacehog.
March 8, 201016 yr Version 4 huh? That's nice to hear. The number and size of files that need to be defragged after installing something like mesh or textures is crazy. FSX sure is a spacehog.Would anyone recommend this utility over any mainline defrag carrier such as disk keeper? I've used jkdefrag in the past and really liked its light weight impact on my system... MSFS.
