January 15, 200323 yr I've almost completed the Great Plains Blizzard series (phew...some rough moments in that one). After much checking I've realized that crosswinds while taxieing (sp?) are affecting the airplane in exactly the opposite way I expected. RE, crosswind from the left, the plane goes left and needs constant correction to the right. I'm no real pilot, but I was expecting the opposite effect, that the wind would push the plane just like it does a person or automobile...in the direction the wind is going. This only happens when on the ground...once airborne the wind effect is as I expected. p
January 15, 200323 yr It is correct. This is weather vaning effect. Did you ever see this 'airplane' like little thing often mounted on roofs to show wind direction ? It also swings in the direction of the wind .. exactly like a big aircraft. Michael J. Michael J.
