April 26, 200818 yr Hi all, I tried to search for these issues but I couldn't find it, so I guess it hasn't been posted. I have a couple of questions about my new video card so I hope someone can help me out. I just bought the Nvidia AGP GeForce 7300GT with 512MB of video memory and DDR. When I first ran FS2004, it would hang or lock up, and I had to restart the computer. It did this twice. I went to Nvidia's web site and downloaded the latest drivers and that seemed to help. But now, every time I click on something in FS2004, it flickers a couple of times and everything is fine. It flickers every time I click on something, but only in FS. My old grahpics card never did that and it had video memory of 128MB and DDR. I'm very disappointed with the frame rates I'm still getting and the emagages are still a little jerky. With my old video card, I was getting frame rates from about 15 to 30. With my new video card, I'm only still getting frame rates from about 20 to 40 fps, and I expected to get 100 or more. Should I be getting a lot more fps than what I'm getting out of my new video card with 512MB of video memory, and without any jerky scenes? What good does it do to have more video memory if one cannot get more frame rates than that? Maybe it's not what I expected, but I like to hear from those who have video cards with the same specs as mine and what frame rates you're getting. Thanks, Ken.
April 27, 200818 yr Ken,FS9 is not very graphics card intensive, so don't be expecting too much of a performance boost by upgrading your graphics card. In fact, about the best you will see is being able to run higher AA/AF levels without losing performance. FS9 also doesn't need much video memory and, if you were running single screen only, likely ran comfortably in the 128MB your previous video card had.The best performance gains in FS9 come from upgrading the CPU. If you have a P4 or an A64, an upgrade to a Core2Duo at around 3GHz can offer up to a 100% boost in minimum frame rate, depending on your start point.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11

My other question is why does my screen flicker a couple of times every time I click on something in flight simulator?Ken.
April 27, 200818 yr That's usually a video driver issue. Try a different video driver, even if it is slightly older than what you are currently using.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
April 27, 200818 yr Author Hi Gary,Thanks for the info. I've tried another driver and it doesn't seem to do it as much, but it did lock up at one time. I don't understand why this video card is so stuborn, but I'll keep trying. I sent a report to the manufacturer and maybe they'll know whick drivers will work the best. You're right, I think it's a video card issure.Ken.
