Microsoft Force Feedback frame rates

Recommended Posts

I started fs2004 last night and was amazed by the frame rates. Were maxed out at 26 where I put the slider. Noticed my sidewinder force feedback was not plugged into my sound card.(I just cleaned the inside of the computer). Frame rates went back to around 10-12 fps like before. Are there newer drivers for the original force feedback, should I get another sound card? I want the 26 fps back and would appreciate any help anybody has. Thanks Jeff

Hey Jeff, I've never owned one, but FWIW I've read numerous accounts of FF causing FPS loss - to the point that some people would remove all FF references in the device.cfg file (doubt it really accomplished anything...) Wished I had a better answer other than to use a different stick.Regards, Kendall#1: E6750@3.2GHZ/Coolermaster HyperTX2 Gigabyte P35-DS3L 4GB Ballistix Tracers PC6400 EVGA 8800GT - 174.74 beta Seagate 250GB 7200.11 CH Yoke/Pedals/Saitek Throttle Dual Monitor: Dell 2405/1905 #2: Dell 8400 3.2 H.T. 3GB PC4200 - X800XT Diamond Xtreme/Logitech X-530's

Thanks. I went out yesterday and bought a $20 Saitek joystick and got the frame rates I've been after for 5 years. Was almost ready to get a new computer. The FF never really did what it was supposed to do. Maybe I didn't have it set up right, and I was always configuring it for different aircraft. I see that you have the CH yoke/Pedal does that affect frame rates at all?Jeff

Sorry for the delay in responding Jeff. No FPS problems with the yoke and peddles - IMHO they really are a "must have". If I were looking at some entry-level units now, I would also consider the Saitek combo. I've had some wiring issues with the CH flavor and would hope the Saiteks would be better in that regard.
