XP, FS9 and affinity on dual core?

Recommended Posts

Hi dear guru's..I have a simple question.Already I can put the whole system load on one core, and FS9 on the other core.So all fine, it runs good, but something bothering me.There are a lot of system things running in the back, and is there a way of really putting everything, except FS9 on one core/cpu ?I mean, I can things like services.exe drop to one core (can I?) with a little tool. (there are a lot on the net), but the hidden background processes, not showed up in the task list. Can someone shine a light on how do this properly ?JohanA LITTLE LESS CONVERSATION, AND A LITTLE MORE ACTION PLEASE..http://www.jdserver.mine.nu/johanGlobal Logistics VAhttp://www.jdserver.mine.nu/va

The free FSCopilot program has a multicore setting option that does this. A quote from one of the developers re this: "The multicore stuff allowed for FS8, FS9, FSX RTM to gain about 15% FPS, by restricting the FS 3D rendering thread to one core and all other stuff to other cores. IT was like having multiple PC in one, very usefull on FS9, useless for FSX SP1."Check it out here: http://www.mcdu.com/en/download.phpGary

The FSX version is the one that is beta, not the FS9 version. In any case, I don't know whether or not it pushes all XP services that can't be set from task manager to the non-FS9 core, but I'd say for the <1% performance effect they would have that they are not worth bothering about. Even without this any of this artificial load balancing, FS9 runs extremely well on a dual core CPU.Gary
