October 29, 200817 yr Just bought an HP Pavilion m9450f at circuit city, to replace my 4-5 year old server-type cheap PC for the express purpose of flightsim (and some light video editing on the side).Bought FSX Gold which has Acceleration in the same box. I did not try to run FSX before installing the acceleration pack so I don't know if that is the cause.Anyway, aside from the onboard wireless netowrk antenna being flakey, FSX is terrific except for some minor quips so far. At Philadelphia international airport (specifying just in case it is an airport specific issue) I noticed that the junctions between taxiway and runway were "flickering" with the taxiway trying to show through the runway. Then when I got on the taxiway I noticed the yellow/black centerlines on the taxiway were also flickering. I noticed none of this when doing an FSX mission from Las Vegas to Area 51 (which was fun, by the way but I am not supposed to talk about it LOL!). I have my graphics set pretty high as well. The HP has an Intel Quad core 9300 and nVidia 9800 GT. I chose this over a cheaper AMD/ATI setup since I had read that in general, nVidia is better and I had no prior experience with AMD chips. 8GB RAM too! Also when switching views, sometimes the aircraft textures are slow to reload. and also the airport green/white beacon is a gray "shadow" for a revolution or two until the texture loads (I am guessing). Is this something I can fix by downloading nHancer or playing with some other settings?Someone on a different forum said to disable DX10 so I unchecked that button in FSX is there something else I should do? I played a challenge at Oshkosh last night and runway textures were okay but there high denisty of parked planes on the ground had badly flickering textures. Maybe my issue was KPHL specific? DOes nHancer come with pre set optimum settings for FSX or is there a recommendation somewhere on this forum? Thanks in Advance!!

The only way to try and minimize it is to offload the CPU. So, make sure you have no programs running in the background when FSX is running and try lowering the detail settings within FSX.>Someone on a different forum said to disable DX10 so I>unchecked that button in FSX is there something else I should>do? What works with one does not work for all. The best thing to do is experiment with the settings yourself (using some of the threads as guides)and find a group of settings the visually appeals best to you.BTW nHancer does not come with optimised settings for anything think of it as an extension of the Nvidia Control Panel. I no longer use nHancer and use the Nvidia Control Panel only.
