  1. Maybe you should learn how to use the program before complaining about things that you can actually do. Like disable the PTT beep if you do not want to hear it. Or click the headphone icon and see a list of frequencies applicable to your location. As for your frequent disconnects...I haven't a clue. I flew for 5 hours today with BATC and it was pretty dang amazing. Looking forward to what the future holds.
  2. Run DX10 in windowed mode or utilize DX9 those are your only options if you want the cockpit tool tips.
  3. I use EZDok and switch from full screen to windowed all the time and experience no CTDs and I do not use ENB or SweetFX fwiw.
  4. Well, I own every product released for FSX by PMDG and I own pretty much every product released for FSX by CaptainSim (just not all variants). I'm not here to bash CaptainSim because I do like their products. It seems over the years I have come to expect a certain standard form each developer. Those standards are different due what I have experienced with each Devs products over the years. Some of CaptainSim's products have not been the most framerate friendly offerings. That being said, the 777 takes the cake at this point in time for being an absolute framerate hog in my FSX. How anyone can fly this plane and enjoy it, at this point in time, is beyond me. However, if people like the performance good for them. I waited for CaptainSim's annual sale this go around due to the negative comments that were about regarding performance of this model. So, I had an I idea what to expect going in and for 9.99 euro I cannot be all that disappointed. Had I paid full retail for this product, I would no doubt be quite upset. I hope that overtime CS figures out how to code the 777 so that it is less taxing on system resources. My recommendation at this time would be that unless you already have it, stay away from it. If it goes on sale and you want to give it a whirl then give it a whirl. It will be a much easier pill to swallow if you dislike it. Regards, Bob
  5. Technically they are both landclasss products. However, they are two entirely different products that cannot be compared. UTX is a major change to the structure of the scenery which include some landclass and SceneryTech is a landclass only product which when properly installed and layered with UTX will fill in the gaps UTX does not cover. If you have neither, you would most defintely want UTX first. You could then at a later time layer another landclass product with UTX. I happen to use UTX, SceneryTech and X-Class and switch between SceneryTech and X-Class products depending on where I am flying. Regards, Bob
  6. robains, If you have not already done so, I would suggest that you register on the Just Flight forums and post your issues there. It will be your best bet to getting a quick response to the issues you are experiencing. It would appear after a quick read of forum topics, there are alot of issues with Traffic 360 and a SP is already in the works. Regards, Bob

Alan, For what its worth, I think you definitely conducted yourself in a respectful manner within this thread and I not sure what your apologizing about. As far as some of the other content in this thread, in my opinion, it is childish, immature, and clearly illustrates how easy it is to hide behind a computer and disrespect others.
  8. mcrum3, You have not provided enough detailed information for anyone to help you. How about posting the contents of your fsx.cfg or give us an idea of your slider settings? Regards, Bob
  9. Optimus technology automatically switches on and off. You can however force the technology to always use the NVIDIA card for a pariticular application. Right Click on your desktop and open the NVIDIA Control Panel In the left pane, expand 3D Settings and select Manage 3D Settings In the right pane click on the Program Settings Tab Add your FSX.exe to the Select a program to customize: list Under Select the prefered graphics processor for this program: select High-performance NVIDIA processor Performing the above steps will ensure that FSX always runs on the NVIDIA card. Just keep in mind that Optimus technology was designed to automatically switch between GPUs to conserve battery life. Regards, Bob
  10. Phil, Go to the provided link and download the DPC Latency Checker Tool. Take your time and read through the documentaion for the tool and how to use it. Then while running FSX run the tool and check your latency. Also check your latency with and without your USB headset being utilized and see if there is a difference. Check your latency first and then move on from there. Get the DPC Lantency Checker Tool frome here: http://www.thesycon....ncy_check.shtml Regards, Bob
  11. Jeff, Paul is talking about a patch to Steve's DX10 fix. Not a patch to Flightbeam's airport. Regards, Bob
  12. Use Ivona voices with MCE or VoxATC. The future has been here for a couple of years. http://www.ivona.com/en/
  13. Here you go: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/387343-the-how-to-doc/
  14. Turn down your AA, and turn your sliders down. All traffic at max and airport vehicles at max is a killer. It would appear to me that you have not followed any guides on how to properly tune FSX. Widely accepted also does not mean works for all. I would recommend you start by carefully reading Word Not Allowed's guide. http://forum.avsim.n...-guide-for-fsx/ Regards, Bob
  15. It's nothing more than a placebo. Windows 8 will not fix the miscomings of FSX however, Steve's fixs come pretty darn close. Bob
  16. Mike, Who is the manufacturer of the 660 TI? Is it Gigabyte and did you install any Gigabyte software? If so uninstall any Gigabyte applications and see if that corrects your problems. Regards, Bob
  17. When in rendering options, if it is showing that you are using 1200-1300MB of video memory, then you must adjust your rendering options to adjust the amount of vidoe memory used to below 1000MB. Your 5 to 10 second pauses are due to exhausting the video memory. I would target 900MB to be on the safe side with your indicated video card or of course you could purchase a new video card to better crank up the eye candy. Regards, Bob
  18. Ben, Glad to see you are enjoying it. Sooner or later you will run into some plateau issues. It is a fact of life with any mesh. Once you get used to flying with it, as you have noticed, default terrain mesh is quite bland. For those asking about FS Global Mesh, their mesh is nice as well. I have used both and purchased a lifetime membership to FSGenesis sometime ago and use Justin's mesh exclusively now. Regards, Bob
  19. Ben, Take a look at this thread. http://forum.simflig...roxy-of-course/ If you like what UTX, GEX and Scenry Tech bring to FSX, its a no brainer about purchasing good mesh.
  20. Enable AA and AF within FSX and add the following for an NVIDIA Inspector profile for FSX. You need to be running FSX in full screen mode as this only works for full screen. This actually uses an acknowledged bug in nvidia drivers that causes transparency AA setting to apply to whole scene, not only transparent textures. You can also enable FXAA to further smoothen (but also blur) image. This was posted by Mike Krawczyk in an earlier thread. You can use 8XSGSS or 4XSGSS either one will increase image quality by reducing jaggies and most importantly reduce shimmering. This supposedly only works on Fermi cards 4XX, and 5XX. If you cannot see the difference in image quality somethings wrong. As stated trying to force AA and AF solely through NVIDIA Inspector will result in no AA or AF being applied in FSX. Paul J's above post is dead on. Regards, Bob
  21. Glad to hear your enjoying your new purchase.
  22. I totally got rid of shimmering too with 5x water, 4xMS & 4xSGSS and you need to run in full screen mode as well not windowed.
  23. VeryBumpy, Here's an excerpt for the Tongass Fjords Manual: 3. Listed seaplane bases (28) At all seaplane bases you'll find at least a dock and in many cases much more, like boats, static or dynamic birds, settlements, and floatplane AI traffic with prototypical repaints. Wherever possible, we modeled and placed structures and objects based on photographs and maps; several locations actually use a photoreal ground texture. Please note: When starting a flight at a seaplane base and selecting the active runway (instead of a specific runway direction or a parking spot) FS will place the user at the start location of the FSX default seaplane base's location, which may be on land. Thus, please always select either a parking spot or a specific direction of the water runway at any of the seaplane bases listed below. 16K, Port Alice, N55*48' W133*36' 19P, Port Protection, N56*19' W133*37' photoreal area 2Z1, Entrance Island, N57*25' W133*26' 2Z6, False Island, N57*31' W135*13' 57A, Tokeen, N55*55' W133*20' 63A, Petersburg, N56*48' W132*58' 68A, Wrangell, N56*28' W132*24' 96Z, North Whale, N56*06' W133*07' photoreal area A23, Saginaw, N56*53' W134*09' A29, Sitka, N57*03' W135*21' photoreal area AGN, Angoon, N57*29' W134*34' photoreal area AHP, Port Alexander, N56*15' W134*39' photoreal area AK62, Nichin Cove, N55*51' W133*13' photoreal area AQC, Klawock, N55*33' W133*06' photoreal area BNF, Warm Spring Bay, N57*05' W134*49' CAH9, Telegraph Creek, N57*55' W131*11' CGA, Craig, N55*28' W133*09' photoreal area CYM, Chatham, N57*30' W134*57' HYG, Hydaburg, N55*12' W132*50' photoreal area KAE, Kake, N56*57' W133*57' photoreal area KCC, Coffman Cove, N56*00' W132*50' photoreal area KPB, Point Baker, N56*21' W133*37' KWF, Waterfall, N55*17' W133*15' PEC, Pelican, N57*57' W136*14' photoreal area PWR, Port Walter, N56*23' W134*39' TKE, Tenakee, N57*46' W135*13' photoreal area WSB, Steamboat Bay, N55*32' W133*38' Z71, Cape Pole, N55*58' W133*48' photoreal area 4. 24. UTX Alaska incorporated some new autogen features and more detail however, it is still some what generic. Tongass Fjords on the other hand is quite detailed and on par with Orbx sceneries. Comparing one to the other is like comparing apples to oranges.
  25. No they mean UTX (Ultimate Terrain X) referring to the Alaska product. For some reason Scenery Solutions deviated from their normal naming conventions on the Alaska product. There is actually a UTX USA, UTX Canada, UTX Europe, and a UTX Tropical America and Caribbean as well as Ultimate Alaska X. All of which are commonly reffered to in general as UTX products.
