New...Looking for a PC for FS9 or FSX

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I am new to these forums...not new to Flight Sim. I have searched this forum over and over looking for the specific answers I need. I am looking at the following computer and I am wondering how well the quad-core will run FS9...http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1218009477085I am looking for a computer under $900, so if there are any inputs out there, please let me know. Thanks.

I updated recently, will be posting in a separate post, so look out for it.

Word Not Allowed, how much did that cost you?I'm new to this whole computer thing and trying to find out whether I should spend the extra money on a faster Intel Core Duo or a Quad Core.I am trying to decide...Intel Dual Core E8600 3.33GHz500GB HD4GB PC-5300RPM DDR2 667GeForce 9600GT 512MB or ATI Radeon HD 3650orIntel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz640GB HD8GB DDR2 PC2-6400RPMATI Radeon HD 3650Any help?

Looking at the two systems you have on your last posting, i would go with the E8600 and the ATI card. i am using a Q9550 Quad which i love but i overclocked it from 2.8 to 3.4 Ghz which makes a big difference. speed is very important for FSX so 3.33 kills the 2.4 of the quad but if you can get a quad to run the same high speed, having the two extra cores helps out a lot with texture load times.a lot of people, including myself that use a quad, see that the 4 cores are used quite heavily so having the extra two is great for me.

So having said that...will FSX run on the E8600? I have FS9 and to be quite honest, I enjoy FS9 more with all the aircraft and scenery addons I can do with it.How will FS9 run with the E8600 with max scenery sliders and say for ex Fly Tampa?

Anyone? :)I'm just looking for something that won't be out of date within two years lol

If you can build it yourself, O.C'd to 3.6Ghz this quad will get you through the next 2 years until the next 10X becomes available. In 2-3 years for your Next build, you will be looking for (4x10) 40 cores. Seriously. http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWi...tNumber=7159746
