How to do aircraft night textures?

Featured Replies

I am trying to do a repaint on an older fs2002 aircraft that uses the *_LL.bmp, *_LM.bmp for night textures. I have done the daytime textures but cannot remember how to create the night textures. Does this require the use of a more advanced paint program or can it be done using free tools available(DXT, imagetool, etc.)Thanks

Let's see if I still remember how to....you first create a black layer and paste it on top of your proposed night lightning textures, if you use Adobe Photoshop, on the layers window set the layer properties to Hard Light at 80%I think that should be it :(

If you are using photoshop the easiest way of all is to use the light effects filter. You will find this in the filters -> Rendering -> Lighting effects. Play around with those and that should fix you right up for lights. If you don't want any light on the just turn off the light in the options and you should get a dark mask. Hope this helpsJames
