How do I reduce an Aircraft's texture size? Newbie question

Featured Replies

Gents,I am going to install FS2004 again and this time I want to add many ACFT only for AI. This includes all ACFT that are not AI specific too. Can I reduce the default's acft texture size and any other add-on acft to increase fps (I do not care about quality)? If yes, wich format? Is DXTBMP a proper tool for this? Other thing: I know that "Alpha Channels" refer to the reflections of some metal parts of the acft and I do not intend to keep it either. Can I take this out too?Is it possible to remove the Virtual cockpit too? I want my AI ACFT down to very small sizes.Pilot_76

Firstly, I don't believe you can take out the virtual cockpit without having the original source file.To reduce the texture sizes, convert them all to DXT3 in DXTBmp and yes, you can just make the alpha channel pure white by pressing "create new alpha channel" in DXTBmp on the right.
