May 16, 200620 yr I thought I would have a go at repainting the above, wow, why did they decide that the colour that comes with the Paint Kit is bright yellow. I have not got a clue where to start. I was going to try and reproduce the pretty shabby looking white cub that tows gliders from my local field.Any suggestions where to start as I would like to retain some of the suttle shading and highlightscheersPaul
May 16, 200620 yr It does indeed sound a little stupid however it may be workable. Have you made sure there isn't anything in the layers palette? I can't seem to find it on their site.. could you take a pic of it? Or you could send it to me (the paint kit) or give me a link to download it.. just would like to see how the kits set up :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
May 16, 200620 yr The paint kit is on the Aerosoft Download site as part of the cub downloadshttp://www.aerosoft-shop.com/~images/PAINTS/paints.htmSee what you think
May 16, 200620 yr Thanks for the link.. had a look.It is a little silly doing the paint kit like that, whoever did it wasn't looking for ease of use ;)Experimenting a bit... I've come up with something that looks pretty good:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/149393.jpgI've kept the image big so you can see the details, it retains them pretty well.If you use Photoshop I can guide you through how to do it, otherwise I could send you them.. let me know. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
May 18, 200620 yr How the heck did you manage to get rid of that awful yellow, I have tried all sorts on Photoshop and PSP. I would like to have a go and where possible keep the detail such as highlights and dirt marks where possible
May 18, 200620 yr Its experimenting really :)Use Photoshop for this.First, duplicate the background layer and deactivate the original. Now desaturate your duplicated layer by going to Image - Adjustment - Desaturate. Then go to Image - Adjustment - Exposure.Increase the exposure to something around +2.40.Hopefully you'll get something pretty good.+2.40 looks pretty good for the fuselage psd and +1.87 looks good for the wings psd. Then obviously add a new layer above the background, set its mode to multiply and paint away :(Let me know how it goes :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
May 20, 200620 yr Stone me....I have only just started using CS2 and you have pointed out something I didn't know. I am about to start having a go now. Thanks for this much appreciated
May 30, 200620 yr Hi guys,I tried it in a differend way,Copied the layer and disactivated the original , as Morgan did. Then I changed this layer to greyscale. After that I made the image nagative and turned up the brightness and contrast.Reversing to negative makes the ribs show darker on the model wich can give a more natural look with some colors and depending of what part of the plane is concerned. We can agree about the fact ,this is a terrible paintkit.Just another approach.RegardsLeen de Jagerhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/150202.jpg
May 30, 200620 yr A good method Leen :)I have no idea why people make paint kits like this. They must have originally started off layered when they were created.. so why not just save the trouble of merging everything and keep it as it is. Plus, why having the base colour as yellow is beyond me! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
