May 18, 200620 yr Commercial Member Well, you've certainly come to the right place :)Jim's Freeware Paint SchoolPainting 101 - How to become a painter in 10 easy steps-------------------------------------------------------[ol][li] Wear a mask, poly-isocyanate hangovers are rough[li] Don't put too much on, runs look horrible[li] Put plenty on, dry areas look horrible[li] For practice, try painting in the dark since 90% of the time your lights will be in the wrong place and you won't be able to see what you're doing anyway.[li] If you can't match paint, you can always paint the whole car[li] Use a spray gun rather than a brush, roller, broom, mop, etc.[li] If your bodywork is rough, order some 1/4" paint from your jobber.[li] Cover windows, moldings, door handles, etc with tape and/or paper prior to painting. The term "complete paintjob" is deceptive.[li] Always remember the customer knows best and anyone who's ever rattle-canned a barbeque is an expert and knows your job better than you could ever hope to.[li] Don't forget to clean your gun when you're finished. Spray guns are expensive.[/ol]That should get him started. He can fine tune his painting skills through practical experience (30 yrs or so should do it).Jim
