All my FSX Barons have turned white!

Featured Replies

Yesterday I made a repaint of the default FSX Baron. All well and good. But something happened while I was installing it into the sim, and it started showing the fallthrough white paint. So I played around a bit, and now EVERY Baron shows up just as the fallthrough white paint. The only files I (knowingly) changed were in my new texture directory, and the only part of Aircraft.cfg I changed was the addition of a new texture entry corresponding to the paint. It was a copy/paste of one of the others, name changed and altered to point to the new texture.I made a second install of FSX on a different PC, and my new paint works fine in that. So I'm convinced there's no problem with the paint itself. In fact I completely deleted the Baron 58 direcory in Simobjectsaircraft and copied over the directory from the PC I'd just seen working. But still I only get the white paints!I went to a backup of my FSX.cfg directory, also no difference. Obviously something has flipped, but I have no idea what. HELP!!!! :)

Assuming the FSX aircraft.cfg works the same as FS9.. did you change the fltsim number to be the next one along? Can't really think of anything else.

I did make that mistake, but that just made the paint not show in the picker. I can't see why it should have turned all the paints (even the default ones) white. Then this morning I lad a lateral thought: If FS is showing the fallthrough white texture, why not copy my paint into the fallthrough texture folder? (obviously backing up the white paint first!). I did that, and sure enough, my paint showed up! Not only that, but all the other paints showed up too!. :-)Now I've copied the white texture back again, and all the paints are still showing. So why it didn't display them before, I still have no clue.

It seems FSX is even more mysterious than FS9! :)

FSX has one main texture folder and other numbered texture folders. The texture.# folders must be linked with the enclosed text file to the main texture folder (the texture folder without a number).texture.txt code:[fltsim]fallback.1=..texturefallback.2=........SceneryGlobaltexturefallback.3=............SceneryGlobaltextureSome Main texture folders in FSX are three-times the filesize as the numbered ones
