May 6, 200719 yr Hi everbidey,I downloaded the POSKY CRJ-200 recently (crj200asa.zip), and as I was messing around with the tail textures to replace the "Skywest" logo with the old color "Delta" logo (solid dark blue tail background with white Delta font), I noticed that on the right side of the tail, the "Delta" font comes out backwards (or mirrored). Is there a correction for this? Is this the "Microsoft" problem I've read about in the past where the textures for both sides of tail are "shared?"Thanks for any constructive suggestions.4Deucer
May 6, 200719 yr No this is no FS9 problem. For the tail-sides are two textures available.BUT one of them should be mirrored on the texture to show-up correctly on the model. When things occur mirrored, first try to mirror the texture. This is typical a beginnersproblem. No need to be ashamed , we all started this way.Kind regardsLeen de Jager
May 7, 200719 yr Leen,Your kind assistance is most appreciated. As you may already know, on this POSKY aircraft, both tail textures are shown in the same file name, "Posky_crj2_stab_t.bmp." (Unfortunately, POSKY's proprietary rules prevent me from uploading a picture of the file, but I'm sure you know what I mean.)How does one go about selecting just the part of the .bmp containing the right side tail+mirroring it?I've read repaint tutorials til I'm blue in the face. Much obliged!blackfive

May 7, 200719 yr Hi ,There is an excellent program available for determing what to paint where. It`s called FSRepaint. There is a free demo version available wich can be used to do the job.The example herewith inclosed was made with the free demo.RegardsLeenhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/171358.jpg
May 7, 200719 yr Hey 4Deucer/blackfive :)"How does one go about selecting just the part of the .bmp containing the right side tail+mirroring it?"Am I right in guessing you aren't using layers.. or a program that supports layers? If you are, then it would merely be a matter of duplicating the layer and flipping it horizontally and vertically (in this case). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
May 7, 200719 yr Milton I honestly don't know. I'm using Photo Paint Select (Corel), an oem-installed program. I've compared it with Paint Shop Pro and Photo Shop Deluxe, both also from Corel, and I cannot find any features whereof it's lacking, but I will check its layers feature. I need to read through your complete tutorial--it really looks good.4Deucer"If you're faced with a forced landing, fly the thing as far into the crash as possible."- Bob Hoover (renowned aerobatic and test pilot)
May 8, 200719 yr Hi all,Problem with the reversed "Delta" logo is resolved. I was leaving out an important step: when returning edited image to DXTbmp, I had not saved the file as an Extended Bitmap. Once I did that, bingo! It worked! Thanks to everyone, especially Leen!4Deucer
