What have I done wrong?

Featured Replies

I got the POSKY 737-900ER paintkit, made em in Photoshop, saved em as 24bit BMPs, went into DXTBMP, unchecked MipMapping, savid it as Extended Bitmap, 32bit 888-8. Then when I load the plane up in the Flight Sim when FS immdeiately closes. What did I do wrong? Help much appreciated

Recheck the conversion process you did, sounds like they haven't been converted.

Maybe something completely different is happening.Normally incorrect conversion of the texturefiles does not make the sim CTD (Crash To Desktop ) you`ll only end up with a grey plane. On the other hand a corrupted file does.( sometimes showing a FE.DLL- error.) Probably you did use some of the files from the paintkit and used some existing other textures.Maybe you just made some minor changes to these existing files by just opening them with DXTbmp exported them to your paintprogram and re imported and saved them in DXTBmp again.Every time a file is saved with DXTBmp it is loosing some information and at a certain point the file shows perfectly in DXTBmp and gives the impression to be ok but is in fact corrupted.Deep down in the file things get mixed up and the moment FS tries to read this file it goes bananas.Just try this.Keep al the texturefiles you made from the paintkit in the texture folder ( they are most likely OK )Replace ALL the other texturefiles by the same files from some other livery.I am almost certian your model will be launched problemless. Now put back the file(s) you edited and which did NOT come from the paintkit.I think FS will crash again. Now just swap the files until you find the the corrupted one.RegardsLeen de Jager
