pss 757 repaint problem

Featured Replies

Hey Andrea :)Unfortunately from the looks of it theres nothing you can do. It looks like that area has the opposite side mapped to it, likely by mistake. This was done in the modelling stage and only the designers who have the original file can change the mapping.

Thank you.but is possible it happened only to me ... ??? :^)Andrea

Its probably your repaint that has shown it up. Most repaints are either white or solid colour in that area so most do not notice it. The best you could try and do is space the letter so it doesn't go on that area.. which is probably nearly impossible!

Andrea, I have to agree with Moggie on this. It looks like somehow there was a mistake maked when the aircraft was originally modelled. Unfortunately, this sort of thing happens all too often. Either there is a small mistake as on this model, or the modeller takes a shortcut and uses one texture for both sides of the fuselage or tail or suchlike. It makes repainting difficult. You might try contacting the folks who made the original model and letting them know - in as nice and uncritical way as possible (basically that means grovelling) - of the little glitch in their model. At no time should you call it a mistake. "Glitch" is a good word. "Hiccough" is another. But at no time should you ever in any wise imply that you think the modeller made a mistake. Some folks are secure and have no problem admitting they are human. Some aren't. The real problem is that you do not know the author so you do not know how they are going to take criticism of their work.Good luck. I have seen models that had large portions of the model self textured - that is there was no texture and the markings were built into the polygons of the model. In that case you CANNOT repaint the model. There was an otherwise quite nice U-2 for FS2K that was like that. I started to repaint it for SimNASA. No joy. Had to abort.Again good luck.Best regards,Bill

Hi guys,No need to say I fully agree with Morgan`s conclusion. And I must say "mistake" is a very good word to discribe the phenomena. It is a very polite way of saying something went wrong during the making of the model/textureing.Making models like these is very complicated and tricky. On the other hand we`re talking about payware and when we are talking in this perspective a word like "mistake" is not out of line.Even when is was fully freeware the word could be used , nothing wrong with the word.I am always happy when people point me to my own mistakes , it just inspires me to make the same mistake not anymore. And when people say " It`s no good, it`s wrong , it`s a fault " thats fine with me too.I am not that sensitive.>>>This is the post I wrote on PSS forum but no one help me.....<<< Andrea wrote. So, probably the makers must have noticed.I do`nt think they will do something about the inconvenience.Making changes possibly will effect existing repaints.Leen de Jager
