April 25, 200818 yr Is there a software limit or can one make them as big as the hardware could handle???Cheers!
April 25, 200818 yr As far as I know , 1024x1024 is the max.Anybody telling me I am wrong about this and larger texures are possible in FS9 or FSX would make me very happy.Leen
April 29, 200818 yr Very interesting. Can you give me an example of a plane using these huge textures?Leen
May 1, 200818 yr None that I've seen.... I've read of developers using the 4096 size and then resizing.....REmember, just because you CAN, doesn't mean you have to!Felix/FFDSPegasus Aviation Design
May 2, 200818 yr I know , some painters make huge textures ( like 4096 ) and reseize them after the paintjob. In other words they paint a lot of details wich get lost while resizing to the normal 1024x1024 size. Some painters think they can give textures more detail working this way, wich is a severe mistake.Imagine what happens to a line just one pixel wide on a texture wich is going to be reduced to 25% of the original. It would be nice to use these lager textures in FS on their actual size.Still I have never seen texturefiles in FS9 of FSX larger than 1024 square. It would be nice when it was possible.Due to the limited amount of pixels we have available just one pixel is bigger than a rivet and many paints show rivets having the size of speedfasteners.FS simply does not allow us to make tiny details like that, without making them to big.Leen de Jager
