ATC: "You are not cleared for takeoff."

Recommended Posts

Guest

I've been using ATC for about a week now, and just ran into a situation where I did not have the option to request clearance for takeoff. When I tune ground, the only option is to "request progressive taxi instructions." But if I taxi out and take off without communicating with ATC, I get a nasty "You are not cleared for takeoff" from ATC.Why do I have only the option to request progressive taxi instructions, and nothing else?-Basil

You probably have the progressive taxi choice because you ended the previous flight during the same session without exactly "touching" the parking spot. Thus, FS never registered that you arrived at the gate, and it still waiting for you to get there. To reset ATC after stopping at the gate, go to World/Map View and change your heading by one degree. Then click OK. Now your starting options will be available again.Hope this helps,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://www.calclassic.com/Cal Classic Alco Page: http://www.calclassic.com/alco/Freeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

OR, you haven't reached the runway hold-short point yet. If you request progressive taxi, where does it lead you?

You need to tune the tower for takeoff clearance. Ground will only get you to the active runway. The tune tower should be an option in the list.

That was it! I followed Kurtis' suggestion, and saw that I was about 100' short of the actual parking location. Once I reached it, I had the normal ATC menu options back.-Basil

Tom figured it out. But I followed your advice and followed the progressive taxi line. I was just short of the actual parking slot, not a hold short position.-Basil
