Where to find an airport database?

Featured Replies

Hello, since this is my first post in this forum, I would like to say a big "Hello" to everybody.Well, I am posting, because I have a problem. I would need a world's airport database with specific information in it like:-ICAO Code-Latitude-Longitude-Runway Length/s-ILS yes/no-Airport ElevationIs there anything somewhere on the internet. I already did a research, but was not really successful. Where do the "Flight Planning Program" Guys get there information from? Is there an official site, where I can find something like that. Or is there maybe another way to get the data?Would be great if somebody could help me out. Thanks in advance.Regards,Pete

You can lookup that data per airport at http://www.airnav.com/airports/. If you are looking for a complete independent database, you will probably have to buy one. The "Flight Planning Program" guys I think just reverse engineer the information out of the Flight Sim data.

Pete,I just saw this and you may well have found a solution already but...You might wanna take a look at the data that is provided by NavData www.navdata.at As I understand it is constantly being updated according to AIRAC cycles and has the information you are seeking.Hope it helps,

there is a program out there called BGLXML that will open a BGL file from FS and turn it into an XML file to be used with BGLComp to turn the XML file back into a BGL file. Using the BGLComp SDK (from MS), you could figure out how to load the data from FS itself.
