First venture in Russia - good planes and sceneries?

Featured Replies

Hello all,I just happened to discover this forum and I imagined it could answer some of my burning questions. I'ld love to do some flying around in the Russian Far East (Kamchatka, Magadan, Sakhalin, Khabarovsk, Irkutsk), and I wondered i) whether there are any good add-on sceneries for these airportsii) whether there are really good add-on planes and panels (like IFDG or SGA-FFX quality for instance) for the TU-154, the TU-204 and for either the IL-86 or IL-96.Thanks to posts in this forum I have already discovered Project Tupolev (although not really visited yet, still having to figure out whether there is an English version), but what other downloads are there? I am afraid to search through avsim.ru as I would not understand anything, so maybe you post a direct link if you think that there is a "relevant" file somewhere? Thanks a lot in advance!

Just to add quickly to my own posting: I found the English version of PT, all happy on that one now. Other planes, sceneries?

Some general links for all kinds of scenery (airports, mesh). If you look at the ICAO codes, you should find what you need. Most of the FS2002 scenery also works in FS2004 :http://www.avsim.ru/files.phtml?folder=27http://www.avsim.ru/files.phtml?folder=44Example for Magadan : http://www.avsim.ru/files.phtml?action=download&id=109Much recommended is the gorgeous Novisibirsk scenery and traffic package. In my opinion, regarding the atmosphere one of the best sceneries ever made for FS. Here are all links :Base version : http://www.avsim.ru/files.phtml?action=download&id=1961Patch : http://www.avsim.ru/files.phtml?action=download&id=2962Traffic package : http://www.avsim.ru/files.phtml?action=download&id=2754Omsk (UNOO) is also nice : http://vatrus-training.net/fsussr/SceneryOmsk.htmMichael

Michael, thanks, that is great!! I can de-cipher cyrillian letters, so at leats it is enough to understand city names.Really looking forward to head out there. I plan to hop over the Bering Strait from Alaska, on to Kamchatka-Magadan-Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Irkutsk-Novosibirsk-Krasnoiarsk, and then do a long hop to Moscow.Searching a bit on the net, I found some gorgeous IL-86s, as well as the phantastic TU-154, and in case I should fail to learn how to fly them, I can still resort to Aeroflot's Airbusses and 767s or Transaeros 767.THanks again Michael, I really start getting excited flying around Russia.BestChris

Sorry to come back again, I said I had discovered some nice IL-86s (Dimitri Samborski), but I just figured that the range of the IL-86 is not that impressive (in other words, I couldn't do a transcon within Russia). Can anyone recommend a good IL-96?Thanks
