PSS Airbus Series conversion to FSX

Recommended Posts

Hello guys,I did all what you said in the post...But I still have a problem, before I had a black VC now it looks like:4112024702_e0d13f2bde.jpgAny solutions? I may have miss something :( Thank you :) Edit: note that my FSX is acceleration, is it the problem?
Hi, the same to me. Yes, I think it is the SP2 problem - but IU don't use the VC so it doesn't matter for my setup.Regards,ChristophPSS A32X repaints: http://cpichler.at

FriendsI am reading troubleshootings here, there are some similiar to mine but I could not follow the instructions. IE : 1.- SAME problem with 2d sticky panel - I saw the solution was to add [windows10] to my Panel.cfg etc, etc, etc - I did it as explained to Mr Steve From Mr Ameede but nothing happened in mine. Any who may paste in here his panel.cfg working normally.2.- Clickspots on virtual panel - Any click over virtual panel buttons works, I press all the commands on virtual panel and none click on itThank youRaul

Hello! Is there an option to use the VC of the default A321 in the PSS A32S?Thanks for help!Christoph
i think its possible to change it since FSX aircraft is modeled in 2 saperate mdl format,1 for exterior model, another is interior unlike fs2004 where both interior and exterior is in 1 mdl..have a look at fsx aircraft's model.cfg, you ll see 2 lines with exterior mdl,and interior mdl,..but im not sure if this work with pss airbus since pss airbus it is not a native FSX model :(

Thanks for you reply! For my setup it doesn't work because the whole plane disappears when I copy the interior.mdl file in the PSS model folder.Maybe anyone has more success?Regards,Christoph

Hi,I've followed the instructions provided including altering the MCDU as noted above, however whenever I reach cruise altitude the aircraft "nods" quite considerably. It can gain or loose 1000ft continuously. Any idea what I've done wrong?Phillip

Guys, you are wasting your time trying to get the PSS Airbus into FSX. FSX cannot read older MDL files properly. A lot of the programming goes wrong. Textures will be wrong. Why do you continue to try to get it to work, AS WELL AS merge with another model? It's like chopping a cows legs and head off on a farm and putting a sheeps legs and head on it, putting it in a zoo and then telling it to go and eat grass and make milk. There is too much that can go wrong. Heck, the default airbus in FSX has a more accurate flight model than the butchered PSS version.Greg

I have made many flights now with the Pss airbusses(A32x and also A330/340) in FSX and I can say that the PSS AIRBUS FLY WELL IN FSX (SP2), at least on my PC.I have applied A.Vermeire's modifications with one change on the "Pitch using Elevator page"(to get rid of the heavy pitch oscillations on cruise):for the A32x : Max Acceleration= 0.30 (instead of 1.0)for the A330/340: Max Acceleration= 1 (instead of 2.0).The other values remain unchanged.(So for the A32x we have: Max Accel=0.30 Decel zone= 3.0 Max contr change =1000.0and for the A340 we have: Max Accel= 1 Decel zone= 4.0 Max Contr.change = 400.0The "Roll using ailerons " page remains also unchanged.for the A32x: Max Accel=25.0 Decel zone= 6.0 Max Ctrl change= 2000for the A330/340: Max Accel=25.0 Decel zone= 6.0 Max Ctrl change= 2000.)With those modif's the Airbus fly very well in FSX under autopilot.Everything works as in Fs9: model, panel, autopilot (MCDU), the systems and also autolanding.(one restriction: in the original PSS A32x the VC textures do not appear, but the model is ok)Manual flying is a also possible, but AUTOTRIM does not work and if you switch off theAP at high speed ,you can very quickly loose control completly. But one can fly easily the departures and final approaches. For manual flying it is important to have "AxisIntercepts=Yes" positioned in the Fsuipc4.ini fileas indicated in A.Vermeire's notice.I have flown the original PSS A32x. It is ok with the restriction of the not appearing VC textures.I have flown also the Project Airbus A319 and A320 with the PSS panel (and also Pss aircraft.cfg(-views,lights,exits and contactpoints, as always) and airfile). It flies also well.I have flown then the default FSX A321 wit the Pss panel (and Pss aircraft.cfg and airfile). Flies well also. (for the default A321x one must copy the original reference datum). In the PA busses and also the default A321 you can use the default A321 Virtual cockpit.I have integrated the PSS PFD, ND and Ecam's in it. So i have a nice VC with Pss instruments.I have flown then the original PSS A330/340. They fly perfectly. Some small problems with the A330/340:In the VC there is some transparency around the gear lever and autobrake.I have blackened it by setting the background_color=16,16,16 in the Vccockpit01 section of the panel. The wipers appear inside the windows . You can change this by adding a Zorder parameter in the panel definition: Zorder = 0 for the wiper window(09), Zorder = 1 for the two main windows(01,02)and Zorder=2 for all the other windows.That'all.So Autotrim does not work, but the heart of an Airbus is the MCDU and the Pss Mcdu works very well!Happy flights to all!Guy

I have indicated a wrong value for the "Max.Contr.change" parameter of the "Pitch using elevator" page for the A330/340.It should be 1000 instead of 400.So for the "Pitch using Elevator":for the A32x we have: Max Accel=0.30 Decel zone= 3.0 Max contr change =1000.0and for the A330/340 we have: Max Accel= 1 Decel zone= 4.0 Max Contr.change =1000.0 (instead of 400.0)The "Roll using ailerons " page remains unchanged.for the A32x: Max Accel=25.0 Decel zone= 6.0 Max Ctrl change= 2000for the A330/340: Max Accel=25.0 Decel zone= 6.0 Max Ctrl change= 2000.Guy

I had also forgotten to signal an important thing:For the A32x (A319/20/21) you must add a parameter"pitch_stability=2.8" (instead of 1.0) in the flight_tuning section of the aircraft.cfg.The combination of this with the other parameters gives a stable flying.Guy

Two more things:For the Pss A321, the default A321 and the Project Airbus 320/319 I have set the parameter"lift_scalar = 1.1" in the "flaps" section of the aircract.cfg.The Pss A320 has "lift_scalar = 1.42".Those values give a correct nose-up attitude of 2-3° on final approach and perfect autolandings. For the A330/340 I use the replacement FDE (aircraft.cfg and airfile) by Bob Scott that is in the library. They have also a correct attitude on final. To get rid of the too fast beacons and strobes of the PSS and Project Airbus A32x I have replaced them in the "lights" section of the aircraft.cfg by the corresponding beacons and strobes of the default A321 of FSX. (it is not possible to replace the wing-strobes of the PA A319, because of the flexing wings)I am astonished that everything functions so well ! Guy

Some more points of my findings:FLY_BY_WIRESetting the FSX 'fly_by Wire=1' in the aircraft.cfg gives bad results as nothing functions correctly any more. It seems to interfere with the PSS autopilot. So better leave it off!LOAD EDITORThe LOAD EDITOR of the A330/340 works well in FSX. But it awaits the PSS aircraft in an FSX/Aircraft directory (like in FS9). So, if you want to use it, either you install the complete aircraft in an FSX/Aircraft directory (and add "SimObjectPaths.6=Aircraft" in the FSX.cfg) or you create a dummy folder and move the aircraft.cfg briefly there before you do an update with the loadeditorand restore it afterwards in the FSX/Simobjects/Aircraft folder. The load editor of the A32x doesn't work in my case even if I have the aircraft in theFSX/aircraft directory. But I remember there were always problems with it, already under Fs8/Fs9.One had to re-install the aircraft to make the loadedidtor work.ENGINE STARTThe cold engine start is somewhat difficult due to the fact that the engines spool up only to an N2 value of 12-13% in FSX (like other aircraft imported from FS9).I have found out that , if you set Apu Bleed off then, the engines continue to spool up!So here is my special procedure for a cold engine start in FSX:1.Turn Apu MAster, Apu Start and Apu Bleed ON (overhead) And then, when APU and Bleed available (Ecam1):2.Turn Eng Bleed 1/2 (1/2/3/4 + Hot Air 1/2 for the A340) OFF (overhead)3.Turn Engine Master switches 1/2 (1/2/3/4 for the A340) ON (pedestal)4.Turn Engine IGN/STart ON(pedestal) and then, When N2 reaches 11.5-12% (may take a minute and more):5.Turn Apu Bleed OFF (overhead) (this will reset the Engine Master's off!) And Immediatly after: Reset Engine Master Switches ON (Ctrl-shift-F4). The Engines will normally spool up completly then and start.6.If they don't start or if not all engines start: Reset Apu Bleed ON and wait till N2 reaches again 11.5-12% to return to 5.It is important to turn ALL the Engine Master's on BEFORE you set IGN/STart, otherwise not all the engines will start. There is no logic in this procedure, but it works! You can stop the engines then by setting the Engine Master Switches off.Restart will then generally work by simply ressetting the Master's on.Despite it's age ,the not working autotrim and those small complications I enjoy the Pss Airbus and panel in FSX.The original Pss planes look still good in FSX and I have always appreciated the great paneland the well functionning Mcdu/Fcu.Guy

Hi Guy and AmedeeHope someone can help me.I follow the instructions to install PSS A320 into FSX.I have a registered version of FSUIPC4 for FSX.When I am into the VFR panel, I have the half right of the external view as a black windows. And if I try to extend the view, I can only extend it to the bottom, but it will be reset if I switch between other panel view, like IFR and the VFR panel).Here is my panel.cfg:// Airbus Generic "Pro Panel"// COPYRIGHT Phoenix Simulation Software 2002 ©[Window Titles]window00=VFR Panelwindow01=IFR Panelwindow02=MCDUwindow03=Pedestalwindow04=Big PFDwindow05=Big NDwindow06=Big upper ECAMwindow07=Big lower ECAMwindow08=OVERHEADwindow09=Pushbackwindow10=SYSTEM ONLY DO NOT USE// Fixed Window33=VFR PANEL - USE KEYPAD 2// Fixed Window37=OVERHEAD - USE KEYPAD 5[Views]VIEW_FORWARD_WINDOWS=MAIN_PANELVIEW_FORWARD_DIR=3.0, 0.0, 0.0VIEW_FORWARD_ZOOM=1.0VIEW_REAR_WINDOWS=33VIEW_REAR_DIR=5.0, 0.0, 0.0VIEW_REAR_ZOOM=1.5VIEW_DOWN_WINDOWS=37VIEW_DOWN_DIR=-5.0, 0.0, 0.0[Window00]file=headup.BMPsize_mm=1024visible=0position=7ident=MAIN_PANELgauge00=PSS-A320!PFDV, 0, 527, 223gauge01=PSS-A320!NDV, 223, 527, 243gauge02=PSS-A320!ECAM_UPPERV, 640, 527, 225, , 1gauge03=PSS-A320!FCUvfr, 394, 360, 629gauge04=PSS-A320!StandbyV, 466, 527, 174gauge05=PSS-A320!DDRMIV, 466, 754, 174gauge06=PSS-A320!GearV, 865, 527, 159gauge07=PSS-A320!WarningV, 0, 359, 395gauge08=PSS-A320!PostV, 560, 0, 464Gauge09=PssClickSpotsFSX!Overhead, 780,16,80,34gauge10=PssClickSpotsFSX!Pedestal, 209,460,34,34gauge11=PssClickSpotsFSX!MCDU, 210,421,34,34gauge12=PssClickSpotsFSX!LECAM, 653,753,211,13[Window01]file=forward.bmpsize_mm=1024visible=1position=7ident=MAIN_PANELgauge00=PSS-A320!PFD, 0, 216, 223gauge01=PSS-A320!ND, 223, 216, 243gauge02=PSS-A320!ECAM_UPPER, 640, 216, 225, , 1gauge03=PSS-A320!ECAM_LOWER, 640, 455, 225gauge04=PSS-A320!FCU, 394, 49, 629gauge05=PSS-A320!ECAM_CTL, 466, 674, 558gauge06=PSS-A320!Gear, 865, 216, 159gauge07=PSS-A320!DDRMI, 466, 443, 174gauge08=PSS-A320!Warning, 0, 48, 395gauge09=PSS-A320!Standby, 466, 216, 174gauge10=PSS-A320!Footwell, 0, 509, 466gauge11=PSS-A320!Post, 685, 0, 172gauge12=PssClickSpotsFSX!Overhead, 700,16,150,34gauge13=PssAirbusClickSpots!Pedestal, 210,150,34,34[Window02]Background_color=16,16,16size_mm=365,554position=8visible=0ident=56gauge00=PSS-A320!MCDU, 0, 0, 365[Window03]file=DOWN.BMPsize_mm=1024position=3visible=0ident=THROTTLE_PANELgauge00=PSS-A320!Pedestal, 309, 0, 715[Window04]Background_color=16,16,16size_mm=330,330position=6visible=0ident=RADIO_PANELgauge00=PSS-A320!PFD3, 0, 0, 330[Window05]Background_color=16,16,16size_mm=330,330position= 7visible=0ident=55gauge00=PSS-A320!ND3, 0, 0, 330[Window06]Background_color=16,16,16size_mm=330,330position= 8visible=0ident=56gauge00=PSS-A320!ECAM_UPPER3, 0, 0, 330[Window07]Background_color=16,16,16size_mm=330,330position=7visible=0ident=56gauge00=PSS-A320!ECAM_LOWER3, 0, 0, 330[Window08]file=OH.bmpsize_mm=1024,768visible=0nomenu=0render_3d_window=0window_pos=0.0,0.0window_size=1.000,1.000ident=OVERHEADgauge00=PSS-A320!Overhead, 0, 0, 1024gauge01=PSSClickspotsFSX!overhead, 820,685,205,105gauge02=PSSClickspotsFSX!overhead, 700,715,205,105gauge03=AS_Pushback!ToggleWindow_T, 165,604,25,25[Window09] size_mm=167,133pixel_size=167,133ident=10005 visible=0position=1gauge00=AS_Pushback!Pushback, 0,0gauge01=AS_Pushback!Pushback2, 0,0[window10]Background_color=16,16,16size_mm=2,2position=7visible=1ident=59gauge00=PSS-A320!Server, 0, 0, 1// [Fixed Window33]// file=headup.BMP// size_mm=1024,768// visible=0// nomenu=0// render_3d_window=1// window_pos=0.0,0.0// window_size=1.000,1.000// ident=33// // gauge00=PSS-A320!PFDV, 0, 527, 223// gauge01=PSS-A320!NDV, 223, 527, 243// gauge02=PSS-A320!ECAM_UPPERV, 640, 527, 225, , 1// gauge03=PSS-A320!FCUvfr, 394, 360, 629// gauge04=PSS-A320!StandbyV, 466, 527, 174// gauge05=PSS-A320!DDRMIV, 466, 754, 174// gauge06=PSS-A320!GearV, 865, 527, 159// gauge07=PSS-A320!WarningV, 0, 359, 395// gauge08=PSS-A320!PostV, 560, 0, 464// [Fixed Window37]// file=OH.bmp// size_mm=1024,768// visible=0// nomenu=0// render_3d_window=0// window_pos=0.0,0.0// window_size=1.000,1.000// ident=37// // gauge00=PSS-A320!Overhead, 0, 0, 1024[VCockpit01]size_mm=1024,1024pixel_size=1024,1024texture=$ab_1background_color=0,0,0 visible=0gauge00=PSS-a320!VCOverhead, 512,512,512,512gauge01=PSS-a320!VCpfd, 0,0,256,256gauge02=PSS-a320!VCnd, 256,0,256,256gauge03=PSS-a320!VCecam1, 512,0,256,256gauge04=PSS-a320!VCecam2, 768,0,256,256gauge05=PSS-a320!vcGear, 0,256,256,512gauge06=PSS-a320!vcFCU, 256,256,768,256gauge07=PSS-a320!vcMCDU, 256,512,256,256gauge08=PSS-a320!VCStandby, 0,768,256,256gauge09=PSS-a320!vcDDRMI, 256,768,256,256guid=c219c1a083a83b58bbed7d3fd462a287Day=255,255,255Night=40,40,80Luminous=200,200,101[Default View]X=0Y=0SIZE_X=8191SIZE_Y=1480Thanks for any help.P.S: I also have trouble in the virtual cockpit.
