February 7, 200323 yr All my life I have been under the understanding that aircraft are ground steered with the rudder peddles. This has been reinforced by my RW Pilots license and the flying I've done in light aircraft. However, I have just discovered that the bigger planes are actually steered with a little "steering wheel" located to the left of the captain. At which stage in aircraft evolution does this steering responsibility change from the rudders to the "steering wheel" and why has this never been (to my knowlege anyway) replicated in MSFS?Darryl
February 7, 200323 yr Author I think the reason it has not been done in FS is there is no good way to replicate the captains tiller and do it very well. Normally we steer with the rudders unless sharp turns are needed like pulling into gates or 90 degre turns on and off taxiways. You can make fairly big corrections but you can't do any hard or sharp turns without the tiller on large airplanes. Also less complexity in our sims helps the developers. Hornit
