Couple of Questions Before Buying

Recommended Posts

Hi,This is really a fun product and I'm set to buy but I have a few questions that I hope someone can help with. I have flown two flights successfully with the demo in FSX.1. If you choose not to use VoxAtc on a particular flight can you just not enable and close the VoxAtc window? Does it use any resources if not enabled?2. On my two flights I had to request clearances to cruise altitude. Does this happen on every flight or will Center instruct you to altitude at times?3. After landing and receiving parking instructions are there any further instructions expected? I don't get any.4. How do you set-up to continue a flight? I have disabled VoxATC then loaded a new flight plan and re-enabled VoxATC but get approach as the first communication.5. I have read the help and getting started material but still don't know what the ident does. Thanks for your help!Jeb

Hi Jeb,I'll try to help you out with each of your questions1. "If you choose not to use VoxAtc on a particular flight canyou just not enable and close the VoxAtc window? Does it useany resources if not enabled?"A: Yes, you have to set the AI traffic back to a percentage setting in the FSX menu and turn the ATC sound back on. You will not use any resources if VoxATC is not enabled and you can close the VoxATC window.2. "On my two flights I had to request clearances to cruisealtitude. Does this happen on every flight or will Centerinstruct you to altitude at times?"A: Present version does require you to request your altitude from Center. This does allow for changing altitudes during the flight. This is being looked into for the next version as more realism is programmed in.3. "After landing and receiving parking instructions are thereany further instructions expected? I don't get any."A: You usually won't hear from Ground again. If you are crossing a runway you need to stop at the hold short, request switch to tower frequency and request crossing runway which the options menu will show you. If on a VFR flight you will need to contact FSS and close your flight plan after parking.4. "How do you set-up to continue a flight? I have disabledVoxATC then loaded a new flight plan and re-enabled VoxATC butget approach as the first communication."A: You not only need to load a new flight plan, you need to save the flight with the attached flight plan and load that complete flight situation. If you are in the air and five miles away from your departure airport your first contact should be Center.5. "I have read the help and getting started material but stilldon't know what the ident does."A: Ident is not a feature modeled in MSFS but in real life it is a part of the transponder where a strong signal is sent by your transponder that makes your aircraft (identified by the numeric four digit code you have set) light up on the radar controllers screen. In VoxATC this feature gets utilized in VFR flights which in reality is where you will use it most upon first contacting a new controller. That controller will give you a squawk code (four digit code to set in your transponder) and ask you to ident so they see clearly where you are. When on an IFR flight plan you don't get many ident requests since you are being handed off from controller to controller.Hope this is of help to you.
