May 2, 200323 yr >And what were gliders good for........... back then? If you're going to make that criticism then I can say "What was the Flyer series good for, back then? Except for learning from and generally messing about in?" Otto's gliders were good enough. Capable of controlled flights, (more than mere hops I think. Didn't they they go a few 1000 feet?) they were later built in numbers and sold to people. What that Swiss guy says is right. We shouldn't really be arguing over this. I'm not denying the Wright brothers accomplishment - that would be silly. On a final note, I will say that I've always wondered what it must have felt like to be Otto Lilienthal on this first long hop. I have also wondered what it must have felt like to be Orville Wright during that first powered flight...wow! What a buzz that must have been!!Aircraft development has evolved like science - by a process of evolution. New developers take over from where the previous ones left off. Pioneers often got it wrong (and killed), but their work formed a starting point for others. J
May 2, 200323 yr I know Jason. I was mentionning nationalistic regarding the totality of the comments seen on this matter, not specially looking at yours. As we enter the 21st century, I think we should join forces to all work together, as people usually do in forum.Kind regardsPatrick

May 2, 200323 yr Wow. Is the new sim THAT good! I always look forward to the sides being drawn on features. Is it real, is it accurate. The blah, model xyz has 3 mil skin of a slightly blurry color and the new sim is garbage because my monitor clearly shows it to be 3.000009 mil and not blurry enough. Now we argue about the title. This is fantastic! I can
May 2, 200323 yr There is a difference between a semi-controlled fall and sustainable flight. Just had to stir the pot...
