Re: Joystick problem - 'twitchy'

Featured Replies

I am using a Logitech Wingman Extreme 3D joystick. Mainly I have been flying 'heavy iron', but in the last few weeks have got interested in light aircraft - Dash8 (by Oleksiy Frolov) and an equally fantastic Lake Renegade (RSDESIGNGROUP) = now I now notice I'm getting 'Rudder flutter'! this occurs during taxying and sends the aircraft dashing every whichway, it's most offputting during the TO roll. It has been suggested that this 'flutter' problem may be caused by 'noise' from the joystick rudder axis. How do I check my joystick for 'noise'? Can it be corrected or does it mean a new Joystick? Any help would be appreciated.

HI,i would first of all try to calibrate it in fsuipc, available here in the library, and you could also first try to check the "control spike elimination" tab in fsuipc, that cured it for me,though i've got a sidewinder :-)....hih

Install FSUIPC from http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html. In the tech tab, you will find the option to smooth noise on the various axis.Nosewheel oversteer is a common topic in these forums. It is not joystick related.I also recommend considering rudder pedals for several aircraft operations such as slipping for landing in crosswinds. It appears you do not have any right now and you have the rudder-roll axis link enabled. I still get too much nosewheel sensitivity even with the peds.Read the doc files with FSUIPC for some guidance on axis smoothing and sensitivity adjustments.
