September 21, 200619 yr >Creating web service wrappers around the SimConnect interface would >really open up a world of possibilites. One that I can think of is >Brian's AI controller program (or something like it) running a VATSIM >type environment where servers can insert AI aircraft or AI controllers >into the server system. Then SOAP clients can pool the servers via web >services as updates are needed. Think about it, AI and real folks >flying together in a single online virtual world. Of course, a simple >TCP/IP interface would do the trick too. But what's the fun in that!I have this feeling that you may be seeing something like this soon, but I don't know the details. We were talking originally about creating AI based on current real users, not being constantly updated, but just the AI flights being based on the uploaded flights of other users.I don't have a particular interest in doing that all the way through, but the upload section is going in a program I'm releasing tomorrow or the next day. Nothing spectacular, just something I threw together.
November 12, 200619 yr I bump this old topic to announce that I've uploaded the first beta version of my java simconnect library. It is available at http://lc0277.nerim.net/jsimconnect/It does not use the native library at all, so it should be portable on all platforms supported by java 5.0.
