Can anyone tell me how to activate the engine starters using Simconnect? There is an engine starter variable, but for some reason it's not settable. Thanks

>Can anyone tell me how to activate the engine starters using>Simconnect? There is an engine starter variable, but for some>reason it's not settable. The reason MS gave for so many of the Sim Vars being read-only (e.g. also all the autopilot controls) was that there are perfectly good controls (sorry "Events") for these and they didn't want the duplication of effort in the interface nor the confusion which then arises. In FSUIPC4 of course I have to detect Offset reads and Writes separately, translating the reads to Sim Var accesses and the Writes to either Sim Var writes or Sim Events, depending on the provisions made in SimConnect. You will find all of the starter and magneto switch controls in FSX's Sim Events lists, just as they were in previous FS releases (with a few additions). Best to try them first to work out the correct starting method for the aircraft types you are interested in. For props it should be easy.RegardsPete
