When i try to view a texture bmp when installing a new plane texture i get -"drawing failed".I try -open with-paint-windows picture viewer-xn view,none will show a picture ,what software is best for viewing bmp'sthanks Don

correct, you will not see the DXT2 or 3 file types in that default viewer.Check to see if you have a program called IMAGETOOL.EXE, this may have been installed as part of the default FS2k2 install.I have mine under(your FS2k2 root)gmaxflightsimgamepackesflightsim

If you don't have fs2002pro, download Customterraintextures_sdk.exe from http://zone.msn.com/flightsim/FS02DevDeskSDK00.asp or download some of the texture tools from http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/index.htm
