Strobe light speed/interval

Featured Replies

Is it possible to adjust the speed of the flashing strobes at the end of aircraft wings, plus tail, and also the nav beacons on top of fuselage and underneath? On all my aircraft, the lights flash on and off far too quickly - it looks as though the sim is in warp mode!Any help with this would be appreciated.ThanksPaul

Yea you can do it easily, but I do not know the exact values to mess with...but its very easy and safe and you will soon figure out what figures matter. We will use the strobe lights as an example:1. Backup the aircraft.cfg2. Open the aircraft.cfg and scroll to the [lights] section3. Note the name of the strobe light effect (ending in .fx)4. Now open FS9/Effects and find the above file5. Make a backup of it6. Open Notepad and drag the file into it7. Now mess about with all the numbers.8. Save it when done and run the sim.U will have to keep reloading the sim each time u make an adjustment. its a bit of a pain but I know of no other way. Wish there was some software out there!!! But its a fun in a wierd kinda way, I have tweaked my strobes to make them more realistic (they dont look like beachballs anymore).

http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...61204&mode=fullThe thread is relating to fixing the beacons and strobes so they blink asynchronous instead of all at the same time, but you're looking to change the same lines in the .fx files as mentioned in the above fix.. :)

Thanks to both of you for the tips - after a few hours of sweating, I have managed to reduce the speed of the strobes and the beacons. I made changes to the "RATE" line in each file. I didn't touch the "DELAY" line as I'm not sure what that does. But the overall result is much more pleasing. Thanks again!

>So the Asynchronous Aircraft Strobes Effect by Scott Gridley>from here ->http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...misc&DLID=40246>- didn't work for you?>>Rob "Holland&Holland" de Vries>http://fool.exler.ru/sm/fly2.gif>>"To go up, pull the stick back. To go down, pull the stick>back harder"No - this didn't help - it was the speed of the flashing (too quick) rather than the synchronicity.....
