December 14, 200619 yr Hi,I understand that on RNAV SIDs and STARs, that you are supposed to just put the intersections/ waypoints in you FMC/GPS as opposed to using VOR navigation on a traditional one. Well, when I put the waypoints in the GPS, it comes up with nothing---no matches....what am i missing..??Thanks,Matt
December 14, 200619 yr At least in the US, when FAA first started doing RNAV in the terminal environment, they pretty much reused the same nav fixes as used in the traditional approaches. Now they are expanding the RNAV into both the enroute structure and the transition between enroute and terminal. For these they are creating many new waypoints and routes. These new fixes are often not in the FS9 database. They need to be added in waypoint files for the GPS to pick them up. The alternative is to use a 3rd party planner or FMC/GPS which can take an AIRAC update for more current data.scott s..
