What duplicate files matter ?--

Featured Replies

and which ones dont?My FS9 folder is about 12 gigabyte in size - reduced to 8 gig with compression.I keep the folder as clean as I can - eliminating a/c that I dont fly and deleting unused gauges with FS Manager, etcI ran a "duplicate file finder" across the folder and it found many thousands of duplicate files. This file finder programme is a complex programme which finds files which are identiacl - even if they have different names. Many of the duplicate files that it found have either same or different names. I can see that a pair of "duplicate" files that have different names would have to remain because those names will be looked for. Many of the duplicates are things like WAV files and TEXTURE/BMP files for different a/c.Now my question is - I know that for example duplicate AFCAD files are BAD - so what other duplicates should I be looking for. What duplicate files are likely to either extend loading times or interfere with the operation of the sim in some way. Thanks Barry

The duplication of textures is a result of developers using the same ones over and over, based on the LAGO, EZ Scenery, RWY12, and other sources. For the most part, it's safe to delete the numerous copies to free-up space on the hard drive.Part of the secret of success in life is to eat what you like -M.Twain
