FS9 freeze up with strange sound

Featured Replies

Hi All,Sometimes during any FS9 flight a strange continuous humming/crackle kind of sound suddenly emerges from my speakers and FS9 freezes up. No CTD and the picture/cockpit just remains in it's last state without any visible problems. No keyboard functions work and the only way to resolve the issue is to reset my PC and restart FS9.Sometimes this happens quite quickly but it can also happen after an hour or so of problem free flying. Thanks in advance for any suggestions ?Hans

That symptom could happened if you overclocked graphic card ore processor due to system instability

yup, sounds like over-heating. I had this problem w/ BF2. The game would always freeze w/ looping sound whenver the battle got heavy. I opened up the case and noticed the GPU fan was barely turning due to dust. Blew away the dust and everything was perfect.-feng

Thanks for your comments. No, I have not overclocked anything and my PC is only three months old, so dust on any fan(s) should neither be the cause of any overheating (yet). However, FS is known to be rather "heavy" on any processor and especially on the video card so thanks to you guys I at least now know where to start looking. Thanks again.Hans
