July 24, 200718 yr HelloI have been messing around with my XP and fs to see how to increase perf.I have noted these fact.It is best to run FS2004 in admin user account, why? I checked affnity for fs9.exe and it had CPU0 and CPU1, to increase perf. I set fs9 to run in realtime (or above normal) and I found a extra 10% increase in combined CPU useage. Did the frame rates change much, no but it still felt better and smother during sharp turns. Now the problem is if you try and paly in limited user account you cannot change and setting. Note you cannot use "run as" either since that only runs fs9 as admin.krishan Gigabyte EP45-DS4 (F9) E8500 running at 4.1GHz 4G Dominator 1066 running at 1032MHz 898MB XFX 260GTX Vista 64-bit on VolictyRaptor 250GB KIS operating 1440 X 900
July 25, 200718 yr Author >How did you do all this?>Jim>CYWGI really did not have to do anything complicated. run fs2004make sure it is not in full screen mode (you should see the top menu options)bring up windows task managerunder processes, select fs9.exe and check affinity (if you have more than one CPU!!)Check priority and change to above normal (before doing so you can play and see CPU useage and then change and see if it goes up)I think for single CPU PC's there will not be any difference.krishan Gigabyte EP45-DS4 (F9) E8500 running at 4.1GHz 4G Dominator 1066 running at 1032MHz 898MB XFX 260GTX Vista 64-bit on VolictyRaptor 250GB KIS operating 1440 X 900
July 25, 200718 yr Author Notefor security reasons I run my PC in limited user profile but not good for FS!!, so now what I do is switch to admin to play, I always leave my internet security on (KIS) which is quite light anyway.krishan Gigabyte EP45-DS4 (F9) E8500 running at 4.1GHz 4G Dominator 1066 running at 1032MHz 898MB XFX 260GTX Vista 64-bit on VolictyRaptor 250GB KIS operating 1440 X 900
