  1. Hi Chris...Million dollar question is that with the OS on the same drive? Or did you mean OS on one disk and deadicated disk just for FSX?Cheerskrishan
  2. HiOk, that's looks pretty clear then there should be a noticable difference, and if I change by graphics card as well.Just for the record can you tell me how you have loaded your FSX, is it in the defasult directory or somewhere else.I just tried loading vista 64 on my main disk and put FSX and add-ons on my Velocity Raptor disk, no real difference, some were syaing they think that would be better, so before I buy the new stuff, want to iron out what is the best load option.cheerskrishan
  3. HiYes its for FSX only, and really its becuase with add-ons like traffic X which hits my FPS I think I may see a real difference, and yes maybe a bit later will also upgrade my graphics card as well. The one thing that as always bothered me is that FSX is single threaded and even though there are other applications like traffic X running, will it make a difference, if FSX was multi-threaded there is no question it will, but in this case I am/was concerned I am throwing money down the pan.
  4. 5. Hi I am looking at upgrading my PC, I have sort of decided what h/w except memory, not sure which is good for this mobo?Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz Socket 1366 8MBAsus P6X58D-E X58 Socket 1366 Corsair 850W TX Series PSUMemory ????898MB XFX 260GTXKeeping some of my other stuff from present PCregardskrishan
  6. Thanks to everyone that responded, I now can decide, will go first with just ASE but not sure if to buy it as a package with X graphics or just by itself and later buy REX, at the moment given that I get about 18fps at heathrow with traffic X at 69% not sure I want to take on a a drop in fps.regardskrishan
  7. HiSo in the web site is says ASX + X Graphics, so it also works with ASE then?Whats the differenece between ASE and ASX?
  8. Thanks for the responses guysSo it sounds like ASE is better for the weather engine which is what I am really looking for.Now with textures, does ASE proide any real difference in cloud appearence compared to default FSX clouds? And, does either of these s/w cause a reduction in FPS?I say this because I have traffic X and even though I find it hardly adds much traffic at 69% it causes about a 20% reduction in FPS at heathrow, while traffic 2005 in FS9 is excellent and no real impact on FPS. I almost always end up flying FS9 becuase of this.regardskrishan
  9. HiI am on the lookout for the best weather addon for mainly FSX but if it can also work with fs9 that would be great. My choices seem to be1. REX - Real Environment Xtreme v2.02. Active Sky EvolutionNow while having nice cloulds is great my main requirment is that if I want to fly in thundershowers I find after a few miles I am out of it or I cannot pre-program landing in such conditions before starting my flight in default FSX weather, so that is really what I am looking for.Your help and suggestions will be most welcome.thankskrishan
  10. HiI have noticed, sometimes after flying for a long time I get issues, and any of the undermentioned;1. Some of the virtual cockpit panels disappeared2. I changed the Frame Rate from 31 to unlimited while flying and the screen started flicking and went blank, had to kill FSX3. I cycle views and again screen get stuck, have to kill FSX.I have level-D 767 and not a single such issue nor with any default FSX aircraftSystemVista 64-bitOverclocked to 4.18G E85004G RAMGTX260regardskrishan
  11. I have installed, FSX ->Accel pack -> traffic X -> level-d 767All perfectly operatingI am not to load PMDG 747, not worth the trouble when the designers cannot give a reason as to why I loss all control of my surfaces and the joystick fails to work with it at all except trottle.
  12. HelloI was having no proble with PMDG 747 for FSXI had FSXSP1SP2Traffic XI recently bought acceleration packI decided to reinstll allI triedFSXAccel packTRAFFIC XPMDG + updateThe joystick controls stop working for the PMDG 747 onlyI tried Vista OS reinstall followed byFSXSP1PMDG + updateAll workingThen installed accel packPMDG asks again to approve panel display units againbut the control surfaces stop workingwhat is the solution for this?regardskrishan
  13. I have tried a full vista OS re-install followed by fsx ... I just tried Vista OS and updatesFSXSP1PMDG 747 + UpdateAt this point it is workingAccel packNOW PMDG 747 stops working, all control surfaces stop been movable.
  14. Ok,I did FSX then Accel pack, was getting excellent fps as smoothInstalled traffic X, its update, no problem.Installed PMDG 747 problem, the 747 surface controls do not work.It would appear for whatever reason the format of FSX then Accel pack causes issues with PMDG 747I had tried FSX, SP1 then accel apck and no probelm working PMDG.I am now going to go withFSXSP1SP2TRAFFIC X + T X SP1PMDG 747LVEL-D 767After I confirm all is working well as before I bought accel pack, I will un-install SP2 and load accel packkrishan
  15. Do I need to have anything else installed before accel pack is installed? I have attached my presently installed programs and these NET and c++ appliactions
  16. Yes I have loaded fsx between every stage and also I know it says you don't need the SP's but that method only caused issues. I wonder if anyone has installed after SP1 and it worked fine? or is this wrong, even though it seems to work for me.
  17. HiI am having problems installing this. This is totally a new install now.I have tried1. FSX2. SP13. Acc packI have also tried1. FSX2. Acc packThe latter seems to cause issues with parts of the add-on aircraft panels going missing or certain missions just going to black screen but sound working. So I am thinking of sticking with the first method, unless someone can for sure say the 2nd method is the only way to go.regardskrishan
  18. I really do not think either Levl-D or PMDG products mentioned here install any FSUIPC module, I go and check it out and find nothing there. I think maybe things have changed.
  19. Hi GuysI am going to do a clean install for FSX.Presently, I have FSX in C:\FSX, not in the default dir. Also its on the same drive as my OS, vista-64.I want to know the sequence to intall everything I have and if from my experience FSUIPC causes my fps to drop so I did not install it last time even though I have a paid licence.Products1. FSX2. FS Acceleration3. Traffic X4. PMDG 7475. Level-D 7676. Just flight 737 Pilot-in-CommandThe method I reckon on is (minus FSUIPC)1. FSX2. FSX SP13. FS Acceleration4. Traffic X5. PMDG + Level-D add-on planesI also found 737 PIC did not work well without FSUIPC, so I did not install that as well, I don't want to kill fps but do not like to slide sliders back either.Your comments pleaseregardskrishan
  20. Ok, I will do the clean install job
  21. Reading the comments, I think UT2 will overtake traffic X, but for the moment I will stick with traffic X.thanks for the input, its always better to get opinons from people who have had both.regards
  22. Hi GuysI was wondering if there is a clear winner between these products in terms of impact on fps?If nothing much between them in fps, what about in overall add-on value to FSX?I have traffic X and it impacts FSX to about 35% on fps when traffic set at 69%
  23. I am not sure, but I may have lost a frame overall landing a level-d 767 at heathrow with traffic X at 69%. fps shows 16-17.
  24. Hi guysI have been using FSX with a few plane add-ons. I just purchased the acceleration pack as well and just went to install it, said I need to remove FSX SP2, which I then did and then installed acceleration.I had to do a lot of clicking after that to get all the panels back up and running on the add-on aircraft (Level-D 767 and PMDG 747). Now its all working just wondering if there is any impact on FPS or would it better to start all over again in the FSX install process?regardskrishan
