HelloCan someone enlighten me about what is going to happen to FSX? Will anyone take it over and re-deisgn it to operate in multi-thread? Will all other s/w add-on companies fold?krishan

The Microsoft Flightsimulator family is dying out. They are not all dead (FS9 and FSX are still going strong) but there will be no new family members. Maybe a ###### son will arrive in the form of an online-game but that's it. FSX can't be redesigned except by Microsoft and they aren't interested in that. Unless Microsoft changes its mind they won't have anything to do with serious flightsimming anymore.Of course there are other flightsim families. Currently there is flightgear and X-plane. With the decision of Microsoft not to have any more FS-children there may be room for another family, and Aerosoft is seriously considering it. I guess their decision largely depends on whether the flightsim market will continue to be profitable, even if the margins are low.I would be disappointed if, in a few years, we will have only X-plane and Flightgear so I passionately hope Aerosoft or another party will create a Flightsimulator in the spirit of FSX. In a few years we may even be glad that Microsoft left the market.Allard

HiI share your views and also hope that someone else takes over and actually makes a better product that does not depend so much of system performance to run well.A great multi-thread product will hit the mark and get many more simmers I am sure.

As you can imagine the non-disclosure agreement prevents us from fully appreciating what the future holds. There are some facts

If it lives, FSnext will be limited, efficient, and extensible
