The title says it all really just wondering if i buy like a external hard drive and place all the fs files on that will it speed it up atall ?

If SATA, yes, only if you right now run FS from the same drive as Windows, and no if you right now use a separate internal drive.If USB or Firewire, no, it would make it slower.
