Airport VOR question.....!

Featured Replies

I am trying to complete FS VOR lessons & am wondering where to get VOR info for any airport I might want to fly to? Is there a web-site I can go to for this info? I don't seem to be able to find it in FS9.Thanks,Terry.

You can check the map inside fs2004. VOR's are (if I remember correctly) sort of blue squares. In the GPS you can also navigate to the nearest VOR's list in a similar way as seeing the nearest airport list but a few pages inside that.

Check this out.http://skyvector.com/Enter any airport like "DFW" for dallas fort worth and click on "Go"It would show you a sectional map. In that map, you would see a Circle around the VOR symbol. Next to that you would see a rectangle box with the freq for the VOR.At DFW location, look at the circle around the DFW runways, The rectangle box reads "Maverick" with the frequency of 113.1. Thats what you need to dial into your NAV radio. But ofcourse, you need to be close to it like 50 miles or so.The other information in the Rectangle box are useful too. Its code is TTT. and the Morse code for it is the three Dashes. _ _ _. Thats also in that Rectangle box. If you listen to the sound of that NAV frequency, you would hear three long beeps. To confirm that you have tuned to the right Nav frequency. There is another site too.. In fact, you can use this to do your flight planning.http://www.flyagogo.net/BTW...these are real world stuff. But they should match the FS9 98%And they are also only for the US.Hope that helps.MannyYou can read about VOR and other nav aids in this amazing website.http://www.navfltsm.addr.com/vor-nav.htmEnjoy!
