Landing Via Backcourse - Am I Doing This Right?

Recommended Posts

Can someone tell me how to do this in a heavy, or point me to a good, easy to understand and not overly verbose tutorial? It doesn't happen often and I do hit the backcourse button on the autopilot which gets me set on the localizer, but am I correct in assuming I'm on my own to set the descent rate myself? That there is no glideslope in a backcourse ILS signal? There is so much that humbles me in this hobby! Thank you, folks!

A little tid bit from former UAL CPT. Mike Ray 747-400 manual. You cannot fly a back course in a 747-400.....
