Aircraft Callsign

Recommended Posts

Guest WendyT

Hi everyone, I am having problem with aircraft callsign. I have installed the callsign, but only some flight has utilised it. As in, the same 737-400, but only some of the flight using Boeing 737, the rest never mention the aircraft type. How to overcome this problem? Your help is very much appreciated. Thank You.WendyT

If you're having problems with the "Callsign", download EditvoicePackhttp://www.editvoicepack.com/ and update your "airlines.cfg" file located in your aircraft folder.Or you could download an outdated "airlines.cfg" file here at Avsim. The "Airlines.cfg" file has a listing of airline callsigns, that FS9 ATC uses.Lee

I have installed EditVoicePack, and I am having problem with Aircraft callsign, not Airline callsign. I have installed callsign for Boeing 737-400, and some aircraft uses Boeing 737 callsign, some never mention about the aircraft type at all. I hope someone can give me a clear idea on how to overcome it. Thank you.WendyT

Make sure you have a valid "ATC Type" and valid "ATC Model" in your aircraft.cfg file.{General}atc_type=BOEING <----check these entries in the aircraft.cfg fileatc_model=B734Maybe if you download and use ACA2005, it might help?http://aifs.pvdveen.net/ACA2005.htmHere's a list of valid ATC But, how to get the pilot to call the flight, with a complete callsign of airline and aircraft. Here is an example. I install B737-400 in a folder with various of repaints. Everything work fine, except the AIRCRAFT callsign, not AIRLINE. Some of the 737-400 has Boeing 737 as the callsign, some was left blank as the pilot did not mention anything regarding aircraft type. Kuala Lumpur Clearance Delivery, Malaysian 190 is ready IFR to SingaporeINSTEAD OFKuala Lumpur Clearande Delivery, Malaysian 190 is type Boeing 737 ready for IFR to Singapore.Help is very much appreciated. Thank You.WendyT

Hi,This may be part of the "feature" in FS that gives a little variation to the calls. There are several different calls of various types, and you might just be hearing a variation that doesn't mention the aircraft type. It's not a problem - it's a feature. :)--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Hi Wendy,The aircraft will identify itself as "Boeing 737" if no airline and flight number was input in FS.You can do what you want through edit voicepack. Open up Edit voicepack. Under "standard modifications" look for "phraseology" then "ICAO". The tenth entry down says "AC_AGNT_REQUEST_IFR_CLEARANCE". This amends the clearance request to add the aircraft type. Make sure there is a check in the box next to it. After that, go to the file menu, save your work, and "update voicepack". Load up FS. Make sure that on the select aircraft page you enter the appropriate flight number and airline callsign under "ATC Name". Load up a flightplan. Now, when you call clearance, the pilot should use the callsign and the appropriate aircraft type in his/her request as in your example of "Kuala Lumpur Clearande Delivery, Malaysian 190 is type Boeing 737 ready for IFR to Singapore."Hope this helps.Best Regards,Jeff*EDIT* Just an FYI, at least in the US, Airline flights don't identify themselves with aircraft type in their request for clearance as this information is already included in their flightplan. Usually, the only time they might use the aircraft type in a request is when repositioning the aircraft on the ground. For example, moving the plane from the hangar to the gate, they might make a call like "Boston Ground, United 737 at the hangar, Taxi to C 18". Just thought you might be interested.
