Sadly from my experience of reinstalling Vista about 4 times this year, reinstall is the only way for most.It used to be different before the "registry".

We have been using PCMover from Laplink at work with good results.. it is a bit pricey but if you must migrate apps it works fairly well.

Re-installation is the most fool-proof way to go, even if it takes a long time and is grindingly boring. You will minimize the chance that you've missed something in your registry that could corrupt everything. As well, some software has anti-piracy protection that may not like it when you move it to a system it's not expecting to be on. That being said, make sure you have all of your product keys somewhere safe and where you can get to them before you start to move things over!Jeff ShylukAssistant Managing EditorSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIM
