Skin Troubles

Featured Replies

hey-I'm having a problem with some skins for the posky a340-300. The problem lies with the satcom. One most, it shows up the right color. But on some liverys, like Virgin and SAS, it shows up as black, textureless. I've looked into the texture file, and noticed that the antenna.bmp files on the wrong ones don't have an alpha channel, and are different sizes. So I tried replacing the antenna textures in the wrong ones with the ones that were in the right ones, but that didn't help either. I'm guessing that the sim is placing the texture wrong. The wrong ones also have slightly different lighting textures for the front fuselage, i.e. the ones that control how the cabin windows light up at night and how the landing lights reflect off the fuselage.I don't no much about painting skins at all, and I'm just trying to get these to work. I'm running FSX SP2A. How does the game decide where to put which of the texture files? Is that in the model file? i.e, the model tells the game to put texture fus.1 here, or something like that.any advice on how to make these work?any help would be much appreciated.

You're correct in saying the model (.mdl) file controls where the texture is placed on the physical 3D model.I've had a look and nothing looks unusual, are you sure you're replacing it with an identical bmp (for the 300 series)?

thanks so much for the answer.I actually just figured it out. It turns out that for some reason the Virgin and SAS liveries were missing four texture files. Strange, as I'm pretty sure I copied the folders over exactly. Anyway, it's all working now.thank you!
