Which Video Card For Fsx

Featured Replies

Generally speaking dual gpu cards and cards in SLI do not benefit FSX much unless you are running at 2560x1600 screen res with lots of AA. In my opinion you would be MUCH better off with a single GTX280. You can always add in another in the future if need be. Nvidia cards generally run FSX 10 to 20% faster than Radeon cards. The 4870x2 is taking a fair bit of beating from reviewers for delivering somewhat underwhelming results. This is attributed mostly to driver issues (which may or may not be fixed - your gamble) so keep this in mind. Also, the GTX280x2 is on the way shortly...
All driver issues are fixed..........Just a heads up...This from a bud on the FS11 beta team....FS11 will use SLI / CrossfireX................. So....Two 4870X2's will rock......Thats my next build when the new windows is out and an X58 ans i7........

Well, FSX "uses" it right now - it just does not benefit in any meaningful way. FSX on current gen CPU's just cannot throw enough data at 1 high end GPU, nevermind two of them. Will FS11 be different in this respect? Considering the staggering amount of work which needs to be done to bring a fully simulated world with weather and AI aircraft to your desktop from inside the cockpit of some complex airliner - I kinda doubt it. In my opinion FS11 will remain a mostly CPU bound application.

I wonder if this would apply for a 260 216 Core @ 896 on a 19'inch? I was going to put this in the new build with the knowledge of getting a second monitor somewhere in the future.
