December 18, 200817 yr I'm trying to resize all the "cumulus" cloud textures located in FS9/Textures from 256kb to 65kb...how would you do this?
December 19, 200817 yr I'm trying to resize all the "cumulus" cloud textures located in FS9/Textures from 256kb to 65kb...how would you do this?FS9 only uses cumulus01 and all cirrus files, other cloud files are not used in Fs2004.FSW did a nice reduced set (cumulus and cirrus). Do a google search for HiFPSv2.zip to get a download link. There is also oscar-clouds_v3.zip in the avsim library that has reduced cumulus options for FS9 and FSX.To do your own edits, DXTBmp by Martin Wright is probably the best way to go.http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/programs/dxtbmp.htm

December 19, 200817 yr I'm sorry I wrote it wrong on my post, I meant the cirrus cloud files...how would I get it from 256kb to 65kb?I can't imagine the clouds would even work, or at the minimum, appear like clouds at that size. I believe it would have been done already if at all possible. However, if you are driven to move forward, get DXTBmp as posted, and read up on the choices within that utility and your favorite paint program. From there it's a matter of reducing the bitmap size/footprint and saving in the correct format.Good Luck!

December 20, 200817 yr If you have Active Sky and Active Graphics you can choose to use anything from 512x512 down to 64x64. Additionally you can choose to convert all the cloud textures to DXT3 format also. This last change made a huge difference for me. Be aware you must make a change in FS9 settings to "Render to texture" on. Of course you can do these things manually with DXTBmp too but with everything else Active sky can do it's a "no brainer" for me. wouldn't fly without it.Cheers...............Smokin256
