Xengine.exe Crashes

I've a strange problem.... I've both FS2004 and FSX, also ActiveSky 6.5 and ASX installed. With Flight Simulator 2004 never had any kind of problems with AS6.5, however, ASX starts ok, downloads the weather, and then, 5 minutes after that it just crashes for no reason! can AS6.5 and FSX coexists? why is this crash? I'm using ASX in networked mode running from a laptop. it updates the weather fine in FSX. I suspect this has something to do with SimConnect, but the connection to the sim works ok.using SP2 here, No accel.

I just noticed there is a BETA service pack and it mentions the problem... the crash happens minutes AFTER I load the flight plan, and I do have VATSIM weather active so this might be exactly what I'm experiencing. downloading BETA patch now...
