December 25, 200817 yr Hi,If you intend to use FSX and this is your primary need for speed, I'd keep that 8800 GTX card.If you go for the 4870 I'd recommend you to go for a more powerful PSU. My estimate is that 460W will get you into trouble with a 4870 or 4850 card. Here is a link where you may get a fair idea on what system loads to expect with different cards: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3415&p=9Regarding the rest of your new rig I have no experience of i7 with FSX. I haven't seen any FSX benchmarks. Some threads here and there, but very subjective conclusions. Most in favor for the i7, but none with a comparison to a fast C2D setup. I'm waiting for a report from Nick Needham regarding i7 and FSX or some other benchmarker that I trust.Ulf B
December 25, 200817 yr And buy yourself 1600 or even better 1800 mhz memory. The 8800 series graphics card is good , but for a high end pc it misses performance.I have no experience with ATI , but I just changed my 8800 GTS card for a 260 OC.Toms Hardware uses FSX for its graphics card charts. With their tests they used a E8300 stock processor and then the 8800GTS card is the best for FSX.The newer faster cards are overkill then. However with your new setup you need a faster card , or your card will hold performance back.
