Download Speeds ?? Why so slow?

I have broadband with cable running around 5-7mps but I am downloading at dial-up speeds, right now at 27.7kbs. Why is this?I turned off firewall, but no help?Is it me or the server?ThanksDanny

Turning off a fire wall will not help internet speeds. Speeds are controlled by both the user and the web site. So even if you have the fastest ISP on the planet if the site you go to servers are only say 52kb than that is the speed you will get. Think of it this way every knows that the typical CPU is many times faster than a printer so the printer has a buffer that stores data for the printer to read thus freeing up the cpu. The new servers we have are not up to full speed as there is a programing problem The language the servers use is Linux and no one here seems to know it.So until we can figure it out things will slow down during peak times.
