Standard Approaches/ILS

This has ben going on for some time now and I always put it off...until now. :( Why is it that ATC at KLAX will 98% of the time have you land on a runwway heading East (06L/07R),when in real life this very seldom happens. On my last flt in, ATC gave me rwy 07L. I then requested 25L, which they granted me and gave me my new heading for an ILS appproach. The they squak me when I'm 21 miles out and mention 06L, with some other words thrown in that I cannot recall at the present. So, I see the airport (night flight) and watch all this AI traffic taking off 06L/07R, heading in my general direction...Needles to say Iblew off the landing and went out to land on 06L.Now my question, is there something I can do prior to flight start, to ensure I get the runway I want for landing. Was not flying PMDG, so FMC was not an issue. It's also strange that at KSFO you generally land on rwy 28l/R, which for the most part is correct. I spent a lot of time watching acft atLAX over the years and I have only see one occassion where they took off heading East. Thanks for letting me rant on......irish3

You are using default ATC? There's your problem right there.

ATC will direct you to its "prefered" runway/s unless the wind dictates another runway/s should be in use. You can set the default FS9 wind which should ensure you get the approach you want, or use a more sophisticated weather program like Active Sky.

I assume you mean changing the wind in the config file. irish3

Okay, did some additional research. Understand my options now much better...Active Sky, RC4, or cheat on FS weather :( irish3
